9th CIARC – International Congress on Contemporary Religious Architecture

An invaluable experience attending the 9th CIARC – International Congress on Contemporary Religious Architecture, with Puerto Rico serving as this year’s host. It offered an exceptional platform for international knowledge exchange in the field of historic preservation.
The presentations were truly magistral, including those by Dr. Zorán Vukoszávlyev (Budapest University of Technology and Economics) and Architect Héctor Balvanera on “The Case of the Parishes of the Metropolitan Area.”
We continue strengthening our technical rigor and expanding global collaborations in heritage projects.

Recently, PQC Architectural Studio, together with structural engineer José M. Izquierdo and contractor José Gaya, delivered two comprehensive (full house) conferences on the Restoration of the Puerto Rico Capitol Dome. The presentations, held at the Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico (CAAPPR) and the Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico (CIAPR), provided a detailed technical overview of the multidisciplinary process behind the award-winning project. The sessions emphasized collaboration, innovation, and the integration of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary restoration technologies—showcasing how this historic dome was returned to its original splendor while meeting the highest preservation standards. Thanks to President of the CAAPPR, Olga E Angueira, for her support.
