2025 ACI Excellence Awards Winner

PQC Architectural Studio LLC received two distinguished honors at the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Excellence Awards 2025, held in Baltimore, Maryland. Competing among global nominees from the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, our firm was recognized with the First Place Award in Repair and Restoration and the Overall Excellence Award, the highest distinction granted across all categories. These accolades celebrate the exceptional craftsmanship, innovation, and commitment to heritage preservation demonstrated in the Restoration of the Puerto Rico Capitol Dome, a Beaux-Arts landmark of historic and cultural significance. This international recognition not only underscores PQC’s leadership in architectural preservation but also stands as a moment of pride for Puerto Rico, showcasing world-class excellence in concrete restoration.

PQC Architectural Studio proudly celebrates the Overall Excellence Award at the 2025 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards for the Capitol of Puerto Rico Dome Restoration - an international recognition honoring our dedication to heritage preservation, structural innovation, and architectural excellence. The accolade will be presented on October 27, 2025 during ACI Concrete Convention in Baltimore, MD, USA.

Antiguo Edificio Medicina Tropical

Our team at PQC Architectural Studio is currently leading the restoration of the historic Antiguo Edificio de Medicina Tropical, a landmark of Puerto Rico’s architectural and cultural heritage. This project exemplifies our commitment to preservation through technical excellence, innovation, and respect for history—revitalizing one of the island’s most emblematic neoclassical structures for future generations.

PQCAS Receives the AIA Honor & Design Award 2025

PQC Architectural Studio is honored to have received the First Place AIA Puerto Rico Honor & Design Award 2025 for the Restoration of the Puerto Rico Capitol Dome. This distinction celebrates our firm’s commitment to excellence in preservation, craftsmanship, and innovation within one of the island’s most iconic Beaux-Arts landmarks. The project, executed in collaboration with the Capitol Superintendence and specialized consultants, reflects PQC’s dedication to safeguarding Puerto Rico’s architectural heritage while integrating modern restoration standards that ensure its legacy endures for generations.

Events & exhibitions

Recently, PQC Architectural Studio, together with structural engineer José M. Izquierdo and contractor José Gaya, delivered two comprehensive (full house) conferences on the Restoration of the Puerto Rico Capitol Dome. The presentations, held at the Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico (CAAPPR) and the Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico (CIAPR), provided a detailed technical overview of the multidisciplinary process behind the award-winning project. The sessions emphasized collaboration, innovation, and the integration of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary restoration technologies—showcasing how this historic dome was returned to its original splendor while meeting the highest preservation standards.
